Strawberry Heart Toaster Treats
These Strawberry Heart Toaster Treats are a nostalgic little pastry moment—with a homemade twist. They use my go-to pie dough recipe (linked below), your favorite strawberry jam, and simple assembly techniques that don’t require perfection. A little jam spillage is part of the charm. Once baked and dipped in a quick strawberry glaze, they’re flaky, sweet, and perfect for holidays, brunch, or anytime you want something fun and homemade.
Ingredients
For the Toaster Treats
Prepared pie dough (use my pie dough recipe here)
Strawberry jam (any brand you love)
Flour, for rolling dough (I use my pastry flour blend)
For the Strawberry Glaze
2 parts powdered sugar (my fave)
2 parts strawberry puree (just throw in a blender with water halfway up)
Additional powdered sugar or strawberry puree, as needed
Instructions
Assemble the Toaster Treats
Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the prepared pie dough on a lightly floured surface to about ⅛-inch thickness.
Using nesting cookie cutters, cut out shapes using the largest cutter (I used heart-shaped cutters for Valentine’s Day).
Place a few small spoonfuls of strawberry jam in the center of half of the cutouts, avoiding the edges as much as possible (there will be some spillage—this is normal).
Place a second dough cutout on top of each jam-filled piece.
Using the non-cutting side of the next smallest cookie cutter, gently press around the edges to seal.
Use your fingers to press around the edges again if needed to fully close the pastry.
Transfer pastries to the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and allow pastries to cool completely before glazing.
Strawberry Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and strawberry puree (2 parts each).
For a thinner glaze, add more strawberry puree.
For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar.
Adjust in 2-tablespoon increments (of either ingredient), whisking well after each addition.
Finish & Serve
Dip the cooled toaster treats into the strawberry glaze.
Allow glaze to set before serving. Or just eat right then, I’m not the boss of you.
Storage + Tips
Store toaster treats in an airtight container with parchment or wax paper between layers for up to 3 days.
Don’t glaze each one if you want to actually put them in the toaster days later, but keep the glaze in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Glazed or unglazed toaster treats can also be frozen up to one month.
